…I am involved in an accident or injured? Our 15-step Protection Plan - Stay calm and do not panic.
- Check for injuries with everyone involved in the accident.
- Contact the police immediately, requesting an ambulance for those injured.
- Protect the scene and do not leave the scene unless you are injured.
- Ask for detailed information, such as full names, addresses, and phone numbers from everyone involved, including witnesses. For an auto accident, obtain the driver’s license number, license plate number, make and model of the car involved, name and owner of the car, and insurance company information.
- Discuss the accident with the police only.
- Do not refuse medical care immediately as some injuries appear later. Seek medical care if you are injured, documenting with your doctor the accident circumstances and your symptoms.
- Schedule your initial consultation with us. Bring a copy of the following documents with you:
- Accident report
- Property damage estimates
- Photos of the property damage and injuries
- Declaration page from the insurance policy (if auto collision)
- Health insurance cards and policies
- Be truthful. Tell us the entire story, even if some of the facts are unfavorable to you.
- Report the accident to your insurance carrier after speaking with us.
- Maintain a daily journal of your injuries and the impact on you and your family. Details are important and are easy to forget during this emotional time. Also, keep track of the time you miss from work, including time spent at doctor’s appointments.
- Attend all of your medical appointments.
- Update us if your condition worsens or if other accidents occur.
- Refuse to sign anything until you have discussed it with us.
- Be patient, as it often takes time to negotiate a fair settlement. We are fighting to get you the money and medical care you deserve.
